Studio Process

A Considered Approach

Every project begins with a conversation. Before any design work commences, Whittemore Brown Design meets with prospective clients to understand the site, the brief and whether the project is the right fit for the studio.

That initial consultation forms the first step in a process shaped by collaboration, careful planning and long-term thinking.

Design Process

Project Stages

01

Initial Consultation

The first site visit focuses on understanding the property, climate, project brief and overall design direction before the engagement is formally confirmed.

02

Design Development

Layouts, planting direction and material palettes are developed collaboratively, allowing the design to evolve through a structured process.

03

Master Planning

Detailed CAD documentation and construction specifications ensure the landscape can be accurately priced, built and delivered as intended.

Construction Support

Working With Contractors

While Whittemore Brown Design does not directly manage construction, the studio offers optional consultation during the build phase to help ensure specifications, materials and planting selections are carried through correctly.

Established relationships with specialist contractors and softscape teams also allow the studio to assist clients in identifying the right professionals for each project.

Interstate Clients

Distance is not a barrier to working with Whittemore Brown Design. The studio has delivered projects across Australia and understands what is required to manage a design engagement remotely.

The process for interstate clients follows the same structure, beginning with an initial onsite visit and continuing through frequent, transparent communication. Clients are kept across every decision. The studio adjusts its communication style to suit each client, whether by phone, email, video call or message.

The goal is to make the process straightforward for the client regardless of location.
