Site Context

Design Approach

Structure and form drove every decision. A classic formal layout was chosen as the foundation, with a planting palette kept deliberately disciplined: deep greens and crisp whites that feel timeless rather than trend-led.

Planting and Materials

White flowering hydrangeas bring softness and seasonal interest while maintaining the garden’s calm and composed character.

Craftsmanship

The Finishing Detail

The handmade wrought iron fence completes the streetscape with a level of craftsmanship that reflects the care taken throughout the entire project. Carefully proportioned to suit the character of the home, it reinforces the garden’s formal structure while providing privacy and definition to the site.

Beyond its practical function, the fence introduces a sense of permanence and refinement to the landscape. Its detailing and materiality echo the restrained elegance found throughout the garden, allowing the entire composition to feel cohesive and resolved.

Outcome

The Result

As the garden matures, its formal structure will only strengthen. The pleached pears will thicken into a solid green screen, while the hydrangeas will soften and settle into the calm rhythm of the garden.

The result is a landscape that feels timeless and composed, balancing heritage character with a restrained contemporary sensibility.

A brick walkway lined with neat green boxwood hedges, purple flowers, and a black metal fence.
