Climate & Conditions

Designing for Victoria

Victoria’s temperate climate and distinct four seasons make it one of the most suitable environments in Australia for formal, structured garden design. Cool winters, moderate summers and reliable rainfall across Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and the ranges support the plant species, material choices and design forms that define Whittemore Brown Design’s work.

The cooler highland zones of the Macedon Ranges and the Dandenongs share characteristics with the gardens of southern England and northern France. That alignment between climate and design tradition informs plant selection, material choice and the long term performance of the garden.
